Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday expressed deepest condolences to the families of those killed in the NTPC explosion in Uttar Pradesh's Raebareli district.
Prime Minister Modi took to Twitter and said, "Deeply pained by the accident at the NTPC plant in Raebareli. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover quickly. The situation is being closely monitored and officials are ensuring normalcy is restored" (sic)
Meanwhile, Railways Minister Piyush Goyal also expressed grief over the incident.
"Deeply saddened by the accident at NTPC Raebareli. Condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for speedy recovery of the injured" (sic), Goyal tweeted.
Subsequently, Union Health Minister J.P Nadda took to Twitter and expressed grief over the loss.
Nadda's tweet read as, "Deeply saddened by the unfortunate accident in #NTPC. Union Health Secretary is in constant touch with Health officials of Uttar Pradesh".
Earlier in the day, Uttar Pradesh principal secretary (home) Arvind Kumar confirmed that at least 16 people have died in the explosion.
