The Pakistani federal government has reportedly presented some "classified documents" before the Islamabad High Court (IHC) during an in-camera hearing on the petition of the alleged 2008 Mumbai attacks mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi to defend his detention under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO).

IHC Justice Noorul Haq N. Qureshi conducted over two-hour-long in-camera session on the request of Additional Attorney General Afnan Karim Kundi, reported the Dawn.

Federal Investigation Agency's special prosecutor Abuzar Husnain Pirzada left the court immediately after showing "classified documents" to Justice Qureshi.

The in-camera hearing continued after the judge had seen the sensitive documents presented by Pirzada.

Justice Qureshi later adjourned the hearing till Wednesday citing the lengthy arguments advanced by the two parties concerned.

An anti-terrorism court had granted bail to Lakhvi on December 18 but the federal government detained him under the MPO.

The IHC suspended the detention on December 26 and the federal government challenged the high court's order in the Supreme Court which restored the detention on January 7 and remanded the case back to the IHC.
