Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam on Friday criticised the decision by a Pakistan court to release Mumbai terror attack accused Zakir Ur Rehman Lakhvi's release, stating that the Islamic Republic was falling prey to making distinctions between 'good' and 'bad' terrorists.
"It is now abundantly clear that Pakistan is adopting double standards, making the distinction between the terrorist, bad Taliban and good Taliban," Nikam told ANI here.
"Why has Lakhvi not been charged with distinct charge of criminal conspiracy? Why did the Pakistan investigating agency not use sufficient evidence in respect of the criminal conspiracy? How are they justified in blaming India for not introducing the evidence?" he added.
Lakhvi is accused of planning, financing and executing the Mumbai attacks in 2008.
Earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court declared Lakhvi's detention as 'illegal' and ordered his release, which sparked widespread condemnation in India.
