Pakistan's Difa-e-Pakistan Council (DPC) has called on the government to immediately initiate talks with the Taliban and stop military operations in the tribal areas.
The joint declaration by the component groups of DPC said that the decisions taken by the parliaments, All Parties Conference (APC) and the Committee on National Security should be implemented and that no foreign pressure should be allowed to perturb the Taliban talks, Dawn News reports.
The elders at the grand jirga appealed an honorable return of all those affected in the military operations on the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
The declaration also warned of conducting more vigorous protest movements against drone attacks and Nato supply through Pakistan.
