Pakistan Supreme Court has adjourned the treason case against former president General (retired) Pervez Musharraf for an indefinite period.

The move from the Supreme Court comes so as to hold consultations over setting up of a special court to hear the case against the ex- military ruler.

Moreover, the court also rejected a plea to order the formal arrest of Musharraf, saying that no formal charges against him had been put before the court.

According to Dawn News, earlier, Attorney General Munir A. Malik submitted the government's line of action in the case which said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had ordered the Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) to conduct an inquiry into the actions of Musharraf on November 3, 2007.

On 3rd November 2007, Musharraf held the constitution in abeyance and imposed emergency in the country, sacking dozens of judges of the superior courts.

Later, the bench headed by Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja adjourned the hearing sine die to hold consultations with the chief justice over the constitution of a special court to hear the treason case, the report added.
