US diplomat, Richard Hoagland, was summoned by the foreign ministry to protest against the latest drone strike in northwest region of Pakistan.
The drone strike, first since Nawaz Sharif sworn-in as the prime minister, killed seven people in the region leading to strong reactions by him to immediately end the attacks, reports News.com.
Sharif said that Pakistan's strong condemnation of the attacks was conveyed to the US Charge d'Affairs, which he said, are unacceptable and against the nation's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
He added that the Pakistan government has maintained that these strikes are counter- productive and lead to loss of innocent civilians lives and have humanitarian implications.
The report further added that ties with the US will form a major part of Sharif's tenure, particularly as NATO is reportedly expected to withdraw bulk of its forces from Afghanistan by the end of next year after more than 12 years of war.
