Australian Twenty20 team Perth Scorchers have won Western Australian cricket's first trophy for a decade following a dominant 39-run victory over Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League final at the WACA Ground.
Perth was hosting its third consecutive BBL final and went one better after defeats to Sydney Sixers and Brisbane Heat in the finals of the first two editions of the BBL.
According to News.com.au, Hurricanes, which were chasing 192 for victory, were restricted to 7-152 after 20 overs in front of a sold-out crowd of 20,783, leading to a 'third time lucky' win for Scorchers, again rated outsiders by bookmakers before the tournament began.
Scorchers' bowlers Brad Hogg and Jason Behrendorff starred after the Marsh brothers, Shaun and Mitch, had set up the daunting run chase, with Shaun Marsh top-scoring for the Scorchers with an unbeaten 63 in a dramatic and controversial comeback from injury, the report added.
