Australia started their Day Four of the ongoing second Test against India on a solid note as they took a 233-run lead with six wickets still in their hand here at the Perth Stadium on Monday.
Resuming at their overnight total of 132 runs, the Tim Paine-led side did not lose any wicket in the first session of the day taking their score to 190 runs till the lunch break.
Top-order batsman Usman Khawaja (67*) and skipper Paine (37*) showed impressive resilience right from the start of the Day's play with a combined contribution of 58 runs to keep themselves one step ahead of the visiting side.
Indian bowlers, on the flip side, threw a lot of effort this morning but did not have much luck in the opening session.
Yesterday, Indian bowlers had departed back most of the Australia top-order batsmen and were expected to the hosts some early blows on a fresh day but Khawaja and Paine maintained their calm and patience.
India are leading the four-match Test series 1-0 and are hoping to take an unassailable lead after clinching the second Test, as well.
