A PIL has been filed before the Gujarat High Court against the developers of the game that has broken all barriers and gone on to become the most downloaded game, Pokemon Go, on charges of 'hurting religious sentiments'.

Nachiket Dave, the advocate in the case, told media that the game has been hurting religious sentiments. "The game prompts a user to search for eggs. Since the game requires you to walk to different locations, there are instances when these eggs are depicted inside places of worship. It could be a Temple or a Gurudwara. This is blasphemous," he added.

On being asked the contention of the petition, Dave mentioned that one can't depict eggs inside a temple or in any other place of worship because it will hurt the very fabric of many religions be it Hinduism or any other religion.

During the hearing, the Court asked how the game works and how the religious sentiments of people were being hurt and the attorney explained the scenario. Upon hearing the explanation, the Court issued notice to all the five respondents.

San Francisco-based developer of the game, Niantic Inc., and Central and state governments have all been made the respondents.

The lead petitioner of the PIL is Mr. Anil Dave. The next date of the hearing will be known later today.
