To all the Candy Crush Saga users in the world! Playing the popular game can actually injure your hand, as recently a man in California man played it so much on his smartphone, that it tore his thumb's tendon.
The 29-year-old man had sought medical attention because he couldn't move his thumb properly, and told the medics that he played the game on his smartphone all day for 6 to 8 weeks, the CBS reported.
The doctors said that it was surprising that the man didn't feel any pain and continued to play as such injuries were usually quite painful. It meant that, in a sense, video games may numb people's pain and contribute to video game addiction.
Dr. Andrew Doan, a co-author of the case report, said that people need to be aware that certain video games could act like digital painkillers and makes them feel "runner's high."
Doan added that the man claimed not to be addicted to the game, but as a secondary thing which was continuously on between other things.
He advised that people should try to limit gaming to about 30 minutes a day, as studies have shown that about one hour or less of video game play a day can have social and emotional benefits, but too much gaming can have the opposite effect.
The study is published in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
