PM Modi condoles passing away of renowned Kathak dancer Sitara Devi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday condoled the passing away of renowned Kathak dancer Sitara Devi.

The Prime Minister recalled her rich contribution to Kathak.

"PM has condoled the passing away of noted Kathak dancer Sitara Devi. PM also recalled her rich contribution to Kathak," tweeted the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Sitara Devi passed away in the wee hours of Tuesday here at Jaslok Hospital, she was 94 years old.

She was on ventilator after her health deteriorated yesterday morning.

Born in the family of kathakar Sukhdev Maharaj in 1920, Sitara Devi was the recipient of prestigious awards such as Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, Padma Shri and Kalidas Samman.
