Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed sadness over the news of plane crash in Indonesia.
"News of the plane crash in Indonesia is deeply unfortunate. My thoughts are with the families of the deceased and prayers with those injured," the Prime Minister said on twitter.
At least 53 people have been killed after a military transport plane crashed in a residential area in Indonesia's Medan city, said officials.
According to reports, the Hercules plane hit a hotel and houses in the northern Sumatra city of Medan.
It is the second time in the last 10 years that a plane has crashed in Medan neighbourhood.
