Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday held talks with Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, before the commencement of the delegation level talks here.
"Discussing India-Turkmenistan ties with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov," his office tweeted.
"Speaking one-to-one. President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and PM @narendramodi consult before delegn level talks," MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted.
Prime Minister Modi, who arrived here yesterday on the fourth leg of his Central Asian tour, was earlier in the day accorded a ceremonial welcome by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the Oguzkhan Palace in Ashgabat.
Prime Minister Modi will inaugurate a statue of Mahatma Gandhi and a Traditional Medicine and Yoga Centre here.
This is the first visit to Turkmenistan by an Indian Prime Minister after PV Narasimha Rao's visit in 1995.
