PM Modi to arrive in Nepal for a 'state visit': Nepal Foreign Ministry

Kathmandu [Nepal], May 5 (ANI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Nepal has formally announced the dates of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Nepal, which is on May 11 and 12.

It comes a day after it was formally announced by the External Affairs Ministry in a press briefing on Thursday.

"At the invitation of The Rt. Hon'ble K. P. Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal, His Excellency Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, is paying a State Visit to Nepal on 11 and 12 May 2018. The Prime Minister of India will be accorded a ceremonial welcome at Tundikhel in Kathmandu on 11 May 2018. The visiting dignitary will also inspect the guard of honour," the release from the ministry states.

During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will be calling on the President of Nepal-- Bidhya Devi Bhandari, Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun and the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on May 11, the first day of his third visit to the Himalayan Nation during his tenure.

Further, Indian Prime Minister will be called on by the Minister of Foreign Minister of Nepal Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

Along with the political engagements, Prime Minister Modi will be visiting the religious sites of the country including Janakpur and Muktinath, as per the Friday's press release.

"During his stay in Nepal, Prime Minister Modi will also visit Janakpur and Muktinath. He will attend civic receptions to be organized in his honour by Kathmandu Metropolitan City and Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City in Kathmandu and Janakpur respectively," the release adds.

Along with the two counterparts will also lay the foundation stone of Arun-3 Hydropower project, one of the largest hydel projects of Nepal which will have the direct investment of the State Bank of India.

With less than one week remaining for the arrival of the Indian Prime Minister on a state visit to the Himalayan Nation the preparatory tasks for his visit gained momentum and is being expedited.
