It came as a shock when news of popstar Prince Rogers Nelson aka Prince's demise broke before the world.

The 57-year-old songster's body was discovered at his Paisley Park compound in Minnesota early April 21 morning, reports TMZ.com.

According to the Carver County Sheriff's Office, they are investigating the circumstances of his death but no sign of foul play has been found till now.

The medical examiners' office has received 'Little Red Corvett' singer's body and will perform an autopsy on April 22.

The Prince had a medical emergency on April 15 that forced his private jet to make an emergency landing in Illinois. Reportedly he was battling flu.

But he appeared at a concert the next day to assure his fans he was okay.

At the show, Prince prophetically told the crowd, ""Wait a few days before you waste any prayers."

Prince became an international superstar in 1982 after his breakthrough album '1999.
