Demanding conversion of the three bills passed in the Manipur State Assembly to safeguard indigenous people, a protest demonstration for implementation of the Inner Line Permit System in Manipur resulted in the blocking of the road between Irilbung and Konung Mamang.
Protestors raised various slogans while placing tree trunks branches in the middle of the road.
Sit-in-protests were also organized at different places along the stretch of road. State security personnel were deployed to prevent any untoward incident.
Locals of Wangkhei locked down most of the road by placing tyres, planks of wood along the stretch. Heavy rains could dissuade the protesters from calling off their agitation.
