Indian team have declared the first innings of their opening Test against West Indies at 649-9 before the third session of Day two here at Saurashtra Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Showing complete dominance, the Indian batting line-up bruised the West Indies bowling attack by piling up a mammoth total on board.

Post-lunch, it was skipper Virat Kohli (139) and all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja (100) who spearheaded India's attack on the opposition bowlers.

Both the players built a 64-run partnership keeping their side in full control of the match.

Jadeja, who had impressed everyone with his all-round performance during the recently-concluded Asia Cup, did not disappoint on his home ground as he smashed a 132-ball century to help India cross the 600-run mark.

Pacer Umesh Yadav (22) and spinner Kuldeep Yadav (12) were among the other contributors for the Indian side.

Resuming the second day at a score of 364, Indian skipper Virat Kohli continued his rich vein of form as he not only notched up yet another hundred off 184 balls but also shared a crucial partnership of 133 runs with Rishabh Pant (92) for the fifth wicket to help India cross the 500-run mark at lunch.

Yesterday, Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw stepped into the world of international cricket in style as he smashed a blistering century in his debut Test against the Caribbean side.

The 18-year-old, who is the youngest Indian to make his debut for India since Sachin Tendulkar, took just 99 balls to reach the three-figure mark, which also included 14 boundaries.

The ongoing two-match Test series against West Indies is a part of India's preparation ahead of the crucial Test series against Australia and the 2019 International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup.
