Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has assured to Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi of National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe in the recent Assam attack as the death toll has crossed 70.

Yesterday evening, the Home Minister had arrived Guwahati where he was accompanied by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram.

He had also held a high level meeting with the Chief Minister, and senior civil, police, army and paramilitary officials.

Singh assured the Assam government of all helps to contain insurgency. Gogoi also requested the Home Minister not to withdraw additional security forces from the state till the situation is brought under control.

Singh has left for Sonitpur in Guwahati this morning and will also visit Kokrajhar along with Gogoi and other ministers.
