Rakitic header helps Barca see off Athletic Bilbao in La Liga clash
Barcelona maintained their perfect start to the season with a 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao in their second game of the La Liga season at San Mames Stadium, Spain.
Midfielder Ivan Rakitic scored the decisive goal of the match with a firm header in the 21st minute following a well-placed cross by Arda Turan, the Guardian reported.
Although Barca talisman Lionel Messi and star striker Luis Suarez squandered a handful of opportunities to add to the score line, the defending champions kept Bilbao at bay with their dominant possession.
With the win, Barca joined Real Madrid and surprise package Las Palmas as the only teams to have taken all six points.
