RCB coach identifies repetition as key to Kohli's meteoric rise

Royal Challengers Bangalore batting coach Trent Woodhill has cited Virat Kohli's consistency accompanied by a holistic approach towards his fitness and innings as the reasons behind the star batsman's meteoric rise.

The 27-year-old demonstrated his batting prowess with finesse in the recently-concluded Indian Premier League season as he accumulated a staggering 973 runs at an equally astounding average of 81 in the lucrative T20 league. And according to the coach, Kohli has trained himself in such a way that he can repeat his performances proficiently every time he steps into the crease.

Woodhill, who has been associated with the national teams of Pakistan and New Zealand, said the Indian Test skipper, who is generally known for his classical approach towards the game, didn't have to manufacture shots thanks to his sound mechanics.

According to the Australian, Kohli was able to use his muscle memory and a sharp mind to hit the ball exactly where he wants it to go every time, Sport24 reported.

After a disappointing start to the IPL season, Kohli led from the front to steer the RCB into the final where they lost to David Warner's Sunrisers Hyderabad.
