Reformed England cricketer Ben Stokes has said that he has put his mischievous ways behind him and is ready to stake his claim for an Ashes berth.
According to News.com.au, alongside Jonny Bairstow and Gary Ballance, Stokes will on Friday begin an impromptu audition to play in the second Test next week after Jonathan Trott left the touring party.
The trio will effectively have a three-man shootout to see who will bat at No.6 in Adelaide when England faces an Australian Chairman's XI in a two-day tour game starting in Alice Springs on Friday, the report said.
Stokes said that there was going to be a place up for grabs and that the game comes at a good time for them for selection reasons.
He added that there are three guys in with a chance to get the spot and the next two days was a good chance fore one of them to put their hands up and get in there for Adelaide.
