Rescue and relief efforts in quake-hit Manipur continued in full swing today with several teams of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) working relentlessly to bring the life back to normal.
Two teams of the NDRF are working in Tamenglong and Imphal which were most affected by Monday's tremors.
State Disaster Response Force, Manipur Police, paramilitary forces and voluntary organizations are also helping in the relief operations.
Most offices in state capital - private and government departments dealing with non-essential services - were closed besides educational institutions.
According to reports, Manipur Chief Minister Okaram Ibobi Singh had earlier announced ex-gratia payment of Rs. five lakh each to the family of the deceased.
At least eight persons were killed and over 100 others injured after a 6.7 magnitude earthquake struck the India-Myanmar border at around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, causing damage to many buildings and spreading panic among the people.
