Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Prime Minister's Office Dr. Jitendra Singh on Thursday said that the day has seen fewer incidents of the violation of the ceasefire agreement by Pakistan.

"Compared to what was being witnessed for the last three-four days, there is certainly some relief. But the morale of the people living on the border is very high. For once, they are feeling gratified by the kind of response that has been put up the Narendra Modi Government," Dr Singh told the media.

"The villagers believe that the hostility from across the border is being given a befitting reply from the Indian side. At the same time, we have also tried to provide all kind of relief and resettlement provisions," he added.

The minister also said that there was a long pending demand of permanent shelter homes for around 5,000 families living around the International Border at the Hiranagr- Kathua belt.

The past week has seen an almost unceasing barrage of shelling by Pakistan at the International Border in the Samba and Arnia districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

The unprovoked and unceasing firing by the Islamic Republic led to thousands of villagers residing in those areas being evacuated.
