2008 Olympic Gold Medallist Abhinav Bindra on Monday raised India's hope of bagging its first medal of Rio Olympics2016 after he qualified for the finals of the Men's 10 m Air Rifle event on Day Three here at the Olympic Shooting Centre.
The 2008 Beijing Olympic Gold Medallist finished seventh with an overall score of 625.7.
In the final series of the qualifiers, under pressure Bindra came up with a sparkling and scintillating performance with scores of 10.3, 10.4, 10.3, 10.8, 10.8, 10.3, 10.8 and 10.4.
However, London Olympic medallist Gagan Narang crashed out of the qualifiers. Narang scored 621.7 and ranked 23rd in the qualifiers. He posted 104.8 in the final series.
The finals of the event will be held later in the day.
