World No. 2 Rory McIlroy has vowed to recreate the famous scene from the Sylvester Stallone starrer-Rocky if he wins this week at the US Open in Merion.
Although the Northern Irishman is an US Open underdog after a dismal start to 2013 following his much- heralded 78 million-pound switch to Nike clubs, he will tee off with reigning world champion Tiger Woods and Masters champ Adam Scott in the first two rounds, The Sun reports.
McIlroy, who is a big fan of the Rocky movie series, said that he would copy Stallone by running up the 72 steps in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art if he can upset the odds and win at Merion on Sunday night.
According to McIlroy, he had almost thought of going to the 'Rocky' steps and doing the same run that Stallone did in the movie, during the time when the golf course was closed at the start of the week, so that he can relive the stress that came from the long build-up to the Majors.
However, McIlroy said that he finally decided against it and decided to carry out the Rocky move if he wins.
