Australian batsman Shane Watson's opening partner Chris Rogers has indicated that the player could make life difficult for the England attack if he could overcome susceptibility towards being trapped leg before wicket.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, after encouraging starts, Watson has been out LBW in his past three innings, with English pacer James Anderson and his colleagues executing a strategy to angle the ball into his front pad after enticing him outside off stump.
Rogers said that he thought Watson was a resilient character and if he could prevent it from happening, he could make it hard for the bowlers, adding that it was a challenge on which he must be working hard.
The opener also said that it would not be normal if Shane did not realise that he was being targeted and admitted it had been frustrating that the pair had not built on their foundations.
Watson and Rogers could open at Old Trafford on a wicket that, since Australia's last visit for an Ashes Test in 2005, has been shifted 90 degrees to avoid the blinding sunlight, the report said.
