Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders from the South Asian nations had informal talks at the retreat session of 18th South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Summit here on Thursday.
Prime Minister Modi planted sapling of a banyan tree at the venue, where he was joined by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
"Tender care. Minister @SushmaSwaraj waters a sapling planted by PM @narendramodi at Dhulikhel," tweeted Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) official spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin.
Akbaruddin also posted a picture of six SAARC leaders, including Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and India standing together.
Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina could not attend the retreat session as she was reportedly unwell.
Prime Minister Modi and his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif reportedly exchanged pleasantries during the retreat session.
After the retreat session, all the leaders will head back to Kathmandu to attend the concluding session of the Summit.
