Bangalore Police Commissioner MN Reddi today said that Union Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik, who has been accused by a Kannada actress of rape and cheating, has not responded to the notice issued by the police and has therefore, been taken to be absconding.

"It is open to a court to give orders to the police to arrest on a non-bailable warrant. We gave Karthik Gowda two notices, but he hasn't responded to either, so we are treating him as an absconder," said Reddi.

A Bangalore court has issued an arrest warrant against Karthik Gowda over the accusations made against him.

Earlier, Karthik had moved the city sessions court for anticipatory bail in the case and the court had adjourned the case for further hearing to September 4.

The Kannada actress had claimed that she had married Karthik on June 5 after meeting him on May 8.

While Karthik Gowda got engaged to another woman in Kushalnagar, Kodagu, his father Sadananda Gowda rejected the allegations against his son, alleging a conspiracy.

Gowda said that he was shocked to see that report and added that his personal and public life was an open book.

He had also said that it seemed suspicious that the woman had filed the complaint hours after his son Karthik's engagement.
