The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday alleged that the Samajwadi Party is neck deep in corruption and said the people of Uttar Pradesh would give a decisive mandate against them in the assembly polls scheduled next year.
BJP leader Nalin Kohli said mere sacking of two ministers is not going to hide the abysmal law and order situation of the state during their tenure.
"The UP Government is neck deep in corruption. The tenure of the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh cannot cover up its bad tenure in terms of the lack of development, in terms of the corruption. So, removing one or two ministers is not going to change that situation," Kohli said.
"The abysmal law and order situation. All these things cannot now hide the truth from the people of Uttar Pradesh and the voters are going to send a very decisive mandate against the Samajwadi Party Government," he added.
Silencing critics, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav yesterday sacked Gayatri Prasad Prajapati and Raj Kishore Singh from his Cabinet.
Both ministers were facing allegations of corruption and land grabbing.
Earlier on July 28, the Allahabad High Court had ordered a CBI probe into allegations of rampant corruption in mining department and directed the investigating agency to submit a status report of the probe within the next six weeks.
Prajapati, who was heading the mining department as a Cabinet Minister, was facing a Lokayukta probe on corruption charges as well.
Raj Kishore Singh was under scrutiny following land grabbing allegations levelled against him by the people from his assembly constituency of Basti.
