The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe the 2005 murder of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Raju Pal.
On January 25, 2005, unidentified gunmen sprayed Pal's vehicle with bullets, injuring him and several others. Pal died while being taken to hospital.
Former Samajwadi Party MLA Khalid Azeem was declared the prime accused in the murder and was arrested by the police in 2011. He was later released on bail.
