Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo has said that this week's news that racing legend Michael Schumacher is no longer in a coma is a 'welcome relief'.
Schumacher's manager Sabine Kehm confirmed that the seven-time world champion had been transferred to Lausanne University Hospital in Switzerland from the intensive care unit in Grenoble, France, where he was kept in a coma following his life-threatening ski accident on December 29 last year.
According to News.com.au, Ricciardo said it was encouraging to hear some news on Schumacher, as there had been months of intense speculation, false reports and few official updates on the Formula One racer's condition.
The Australian said that they had not heard anything and it was not being spoken about on the circuit, adding that Schumacher's medical state has been a tough subject over the last few months so it has been a welcome relief to hear some news.
Ricciardo said that it seems to be positive, so they would keep their fingers crossed now that it's the start of more good things to come.
