Hollywood star Scott Wilson was remembered warmly at the memorial ceremonies recently organised at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills.

'The Walking Dead' fame died at the age of 76 due to leukaemia on October 6. The premiere episode of the ninth season of the series aired the next day and was dedicated to Wilson.

The show's cast including Danai Gurira, Norman Reedus, Sarah Wayne Callies, and Greg Nicotero spoke at the event along with director Ernest Dickerson, reported Variety.

Gurira spoke fondly of Wilson in her speech sharing that he went out of his way to make her feel comfortable on her very first day of joining in 'The Walking Dead'. "Scott made me feel like part of the family as soon as I met him. He also taught me to how to smoke a cigar," she said.

Meanwhile, Callies read the Edna St. Vincent Millay poem "Thou Famished Grave," and Nicotero led a toast at the reception.

Actors Tom Bower and Kent McCord both talked about Wilson's longtime contribution in the Screen Actors Guild. McCord also recalled presenting Wilson with the Ralph Morgan Award for his services to the guild's Hollywood members in 2007.

Wilson was a regular member of 'The Walking Dead' during its second, third and fourth seasons and used to play a rural farmer Hershel Greene on the series.

Wilson's Hollywood career began in 1967 with the Hollywood classic 'In the Heat of the Night'. He then went on to star in legendary movies like 'The Great Gatsby' and 'Dead Man Walking'.

His credits include 'In the Heat of the Night', 'Castle Keep', 'Dead Man Walking', 'A Year in the Quiet Sun', which won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, and 'The Ninth Configuration', for which he received a Golden Globe nomination.

The memorial was attended by many stars including Ed Asner, SAG-AFTRA Secretary-Treasurer Jane Austin, Frances Fisher, Elliott Gould, Lainie Kazan, and Connie Stevens.
