Presenting the report card on two years of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Friday said the National Democratic Alliance government has provided a corruption-free governance during the period and maintained a balance between economic reforms and welfare of the people.
Crediting the Centre for providing a decisive government, Shah said in the remaining three years, all the promises made by Prime Minister Modi in the run up to 2014 Lok Sabha polls would be fulfilled.
"The government has ended policy paralysis of the past 10 years of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) rule and created hope among people. It has been working hard in fulfilling the promises. In the years left, it will fulfil all its poll promises," Shah said at a press conference.
Listing major achievements of the government, Shah said, "The government has taken several measures in different areas, including employment generation, welfare of farmers and creation of infrastructure."
Shah added that the Centre has been able to curb price rise to a large extent.
Taking a jibe at the Congress Party, Shah said, "We were elected to power on a pro-poor mandate. Thanks to the fiscal irresponsibility of the previous UPA rule, the Modi government inherited a bankrupt exchequer, whereas the UPA had inherited a booming economy with single-digit inflation from the previous NDA government headed by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It is the BJP government which is revamping the nation's economy. Consequently, we have had to spend most of the last two years fixing the mess."
Shah further said the Modi government worked to bring an all-inclusive development by adopting a balanced approach.
