Haryana cadre IPS officer Sharad Kumar has been appointed as Director General of National Investigation Agency (NIA).
The 1979-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer will take over from IPS officer NR Wasan, who was given the charge of NIA in April following appointment of incumbent SC Sinha as member of National Human Rights Commission.
The NIA was set up to tackle terrorism-related incidents in the country.
