Hailing the report prepared by Pakistan's Judicial Commission, which was constituted to probe rigging allegations levelled by Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) during the 2013 polls, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said that its findings did not just reflect his government's stance but also the mandate of the entire country.
The report, published on the Ministry of Law website, concluded that the polls were "in large part organised and conducted fairly and in accordance with the law".
Prime Minister Sharif noted that since the inquiry commission had confirmed the transparency of the 2013 polls, "the door of allegations and accusations should be closed forever", reported the Dawn.
He also took a jibe at PTI, saying that the act of embarrassing Pakistan before the world by making the fair and transparent elections 'controversial' was a 'regrettable' chapter of the country's history and will not be forgotten easily.
The premier also patted his government's back for conducting a 'free and fair inquiry,' where all parties were given equal and fair opportunity to present their point of view, for the first time in the Islamic republic's history.
