Sheila Dikshit appointed Governor of Kerala

Former three-time Chief Minister of Delhi and senior Congress leader Sheila Dikshit has been appointed as Governor of Kerala.

75-year-old Dikshit, will succeed Nikhil Kumar, a former Delhi Police Commissioner.

According to a Rashtrapati Bhavan press communique, Nikhil Kumar had tendered his resignation to the President which has been accepted.

During the Assembly elections in December last year, Dikshit suffered a defeat in the New Delhi seat at the hands of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal.
