Former Trinamool Congress MLA Shikha Mitra, the wife of Congress leader Somen Mitra, who represented the Chowringhee constituency in he West Bengal Assembly, resigned on Monday and charged the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of spreading news of her suspension even though no letter was issued ublicly in this regard.
"I only waited till now, but the TMC has not issued any suspension letter till yet even after repeated request. I want to ask why the media is writing that I was suspended. I elt bad and hence I took this decision," Mitra said.
She attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the kind of language that she used during the time of elections against Narendra Modi in her rallies.
"The kind of language which the West Bengal Chief Minister used against a prime minister designate (Modi) is beyond my imagination," she said.
She criticised the West Bengal Government for scams such as the Saradha chit fund and the School Services Commission (SSC).
Mitra was appalled at the dishonor being shown to women of West Bengal. While she said that she respected the people's mandate, she disagreed with them entrusting aith in the TMC by giving them 34 seats.
She alleged that she was not allowed to work for her constituency and that her supporters were heckled by TMC goons.
"I do not expect anything from now. Day and night my party workers are being heckled and not allowing me to work for my constituency. Hence, why should I stay on as n MLA?," she asked.
