Congress leader Shobha Oza said here on Saturday that it is very shocking and irresponsible that Saamna magazine has come out with an article in support of the cop who has been accused in a rape case while the investigation is already going on.
Oza told ANI, "It is a very shameful article. It is very shocking and irresponsible that Saamna magazine comes out with an article in support of the cop who has been accused in a rape case and the investigation is already going on. This shows Shiv Sena is insensitive to atrocities against women and crimes like rape. Instead, they should have stood up so that she gets justice."
"They should definitely be sorry for the article that has come up in Saamna because the women of this country minutely observe all the political parties and their stand on such atrocities on women," she added.
Oza further stated, "When Modi's government itself has a rape accused like Nihal Chand in the cabinet then they can't expect better from allies."
Earlier today, an article in Saamna backing DIG Sunil Paraskar, accused by a Mumbai based model of raping her, sparked controversy as it said, 'today has it become a fashion to level rape charges? This question is now in people's minds.'
The article also said, 'New laws were made after the shameful 'Nirbhaya' incident, but did rape cases decrease?'
It added, 'Cases of sensationalizing through accusations of eve-teasing and rape have increased.
