Devon Smith will replace injured batsman Chris Gayle in the squad for the South Africa tour, selectors said.
The 33-year-old has represented the West Indies in 33 Tests since making his debut in 2003 in Guyana against Australia, reported Sport 24.
The left-handed opener has one Test century and five half centuries to his credit and averages a shade under 37 in First Class cricket. He scored a century in his latest first class match.
Gayle is the second-most experienced player in the squad to have dropped out as Dwayne Bravo pulled out last month due to personal reasons.
West Indies will play three Tests, three Twenty20 internationals and five one-dayers in South Africa.
