Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Smriti Irani on Sunday extended warm greetings to all the citizens of the country on th occasion of International Yoga Day.
"I think it is a proud day for every Indian that the effort of Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) has been made an International Day...I extend my warm greetings to all the people worldwide on the occasion...," Irani told ANI.
An estimated 40,000 people participated in the celebrations in the national capital, with around two billion people taking part across the world.
The yoga celebrations are being organised after the United Nations had in December last year declared June 21 as International Yoga Day.
The proposal was mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his address to the UN General Assembly last year.
