On Wednesday, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Smriti Irani, filed her nomination papers to contest from Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh against vice-president of Congress party, Rahul Gandhi.

"Democracy was created for the service of people. The nation was not built for being in the custody of a family. My objective is to serve people in a systematic matter," said Irani.

There is a three-cornered contest in Amethi, as Rahul Gandhi will face Smriti Irani and Kumar Vishwas from regional Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) from the same constituency.

Meanwhile, another BJP leader, Rajiv Pratap Rudy, also filed nominations to contest from Chapra district in Bihar.

He expressed confidence that people would vote for change in Bihar this time.

"Election in Chapra is tough. However there is a possibility that people of Chapra will vote to bring a big change in this district. And the change is not only for this region but for 40 seats in Bihar," said Rudy.

Former leader of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Sadhu Yadav, also filed his nomination to contest from Maharajganj as an independent candidate.

"Main agendas for Maharajganj revolve around corruption which is at its peak, there is no employment for youth, there is no road infrastructure, electricity, water, health, education and there is no respect for poor also. These will be my main agendas," Yadav said.
