Fresh snowfall and rains on Tuesday ended the longest dry spell in years in Kashmir valley, spreading cheer among the residents, especially the farming community.

Light snowfall was received in ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

Locals are now hopeful that tourists will return to Kashmir valley, after this snowfall.

"Tourists are very happy. Now we will have an event in Gulmarg. There will be snow cycling, cultural and other programs. Snowfall is good for our business," said Zahoor Ahmad, Deputy Director Tourism of Kashmir.
