Snowfall has forced the authorities to close the traffic on the Leh-Sringar National Highway, which connects the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the country.
This is first snowfall of the season, after long dry spell. Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan has ordered closure of the traffic on the Leh-Sringar National High way, via Sonamarg-Gumri road, from Wednesday till further notice.
With this, the connectivity during the road closure period, will solely depend on air services.
Due to snowfall at Drass, Zanaskar, Panikhar, Sangku, Randum, Manimarg and Kargil town, the Kargil- Padum National Highway was also closed for traffic.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature in Leh town was recorded Minus 7.1degree Celsius.
