The president of the Indian National Congress (INC), Sonia Gandhi, on Saturday greeted the nation on the auspicious occasion of Vijayadashami.
Conveying her wishes to the country, she said that the occasion reminds us of the triumph of good over evil and thus, makes us optimistic towards a bright future.
She also said that she hopes this year's Vijayadashami brings love, peace, brotherhood, and prosperity for people of the country.
Vijayadashami, also known as Dussehra, symbolises unity in India's diversity.
The occasion marks God Rama's victory over the demon king Ravana.
Celebrated at the end of nine-day long Navratri, it also marks goddess Durga's triumph over the invincible Buffalo king Mahishasura.
