Stars react to their 2018 Grammy nominations

The Recording Academy on Tuesday announced the 60th annual Grammy nominees and since then social media has been active as fans and artists alike celebrated being recognised for one of the biggest nights in music.

Jay-Z leads this year's nomination slate with eight surrounding his '4:44' album, followed by Compton's Lamar with seven and R&B-pop singer-songwriter Bruno Mars with six.

Coldplay will battle it out with Ed Sheeran in the pop vocal album category, while they are also nominated for best pop duo/group performance for their collaboration with The Chainsmokers on 'Something Just Like This.'

The Chainsmokers: "Thank you to the @RecordingAcad and @coldplay for this great honor! Today is a great day! Blessed to have his opportunity and our fans #grammys"

Khalid: "Woke up to find out that I'm nominated for 5 Grammys. I'm in shock. I'm so thankful man this is unbelievable. First voice I hear in the morning is a phone call from my mom telling me how proud she is of me. I could cry rn hahahaha."

Lady Gaga: "I'm humbled & grateful that my album 'Joanne' was nominated & also my song 'Million Reasons,' Thank u so much Monsters & Grammy Voters for believing in this music and me. I love u so much. This is a day to truly celebrate lots of hard work, perseverance & gratitude through music."

Kelly Clarkson: "Thank you so much @PriscillaRenea @mozellamusic and Jesse Shatkin for writing me such a badass song! Love So Soft is so much fun to sing and perform, and this Grammy nomination is for all of us! #teamworkmakesthedreamwork #grammys2018"

Kevin Hart: "Wow....I am blown away right now. I can't believe that I got a Grammy nomination for my last stand up comedy special 'What Now'....Super Dope Diggity people. I am humbled & thankful."

The Grammys themselves are slated for January 28, 2018; in the midst of the US awards season. The eligibility period for releases was October 1, 2016, to September 30, 2017.
