Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Subhashini Ali on Monday called for strict laws to bring an end to the 'jungle-raj' in India where woman are not at all safe.
"Till the time strict laws are not implemented, this 'jungle-raj' is not going to end. Women are not safe at all. These incidents send a message across the nation that you can do whatever you want to and get away with it," said Ali.
"There is a law for sexual assault in office. A woman had recently complained that she was misbehaved with inside the Kerala Assembly, but the state government refused to take any action. If a woman is not safe inside the Parliament then how can she be safe anywhere else?" she asked.
The CPI leader's reaction came following a fresh case of molestation aboard a private bus in Punjab.
The police have arrested two people over charges of molesting a 30-year-old woman aboard a moving private bus in Khanna city of Punjab.
The incident comes to the fore even as the state government is under sharp criticism over the molestation case of a 13-year-old girl in Moga district.
