As the campaigning in the poll-bound Telangana drew to close, Congress party president Rahul Gandhi stepped up his attack both on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana's caretaker chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao.

Telangana and Rao are remote-controlled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said Rahul Gandhi, while addressing an election rally here.

"Both Rao and Modi are partners and Modi controls Telangana through remote control. Agencies like CBI and ED are in the hands of Modi," alleged Rahul.

He also added that Rao's Telangana Rashtriya Samiti (TRS) should be renamed as T-RSS as its real agenda, like RSS, is to "defend Narendra Modi" at the Center.

He also asserted that Congress is committed to break the partnership between Rao and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in order to save the country and the state of Telangana.

He also alleged that the Rao, during his tenure as the Chief Minister of Telangana, helped contractors loot public money in the garb of carrying out developmental projects.

"KCR is Khao Commission Rao, the profit of his son increased 400 times in last four years while Telangana which has no debt at the time of its formation incurred a debt of Rs 2.5 lakh crore with each household having a debt of Rs 2.5 lakh," said Rahul Gandhi.

Polling for Telangana Assembly is scheduled for December 7, while the counting of votes will take place on December 11.
