Tendulkar sanctions funds for development of 20 schools

Nominated Rajya Sabha member and legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday visited the Guru Govind Singh T School in the Sewri area of Mumbai and interacted with the students.

Batting to build a stronger future for India, Tendulkar has funded schools and educational institute projects worth Rs. 7.4 crores through the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD).

Guru Govind Singh T School is one of the first schools for which Sachin sanctioned funds, for the construction and upgradation of classrooms.

The veteran cricketer has been at the forefront in utilising his MPLAD funds not only for the betterment of school children across the country, but also for improvement of public services.

Along with funding the infrastructure for several schools and educational institutes, Sachin has also been supporting public services such as police departments.

He sanctioned Rs. 15 lakhs for the development of infrastructure and water supply equipment for police training institute in Tasgaon city of Sangli district, Maharashtra.

Funding of the schools and educational institute projects include construction of school buildings, compound walls, libraries, laboratories, common rooms for girls, toilets, waiting areas, purchase of computers.

These projects also include the construction of a school for the mentally challenged in Ahmednagar, a multimedia classroom for deaf children in the school of Cherkela, Kasargod (Kerala) and a hostel for Tai speaking students in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam.

Tendulkar has dedicatedly sanctioned funds for schools and colleges in the remotest areas in India through the construction of buildings, laboratories, classrooms, and hostels.

Through the MPLAD, Sachin has sanctioned funds for around 20 projects of educational institutes covering West Medinapur in West Bengal, Nellore District in Andhra Pradesh, Mumbai, Solapur and Ahmednagar in Maharashtra, Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh, Kasargod in Kerala, Tiruppur in Tamil Nadu, Pathanamthitta, Palakkad in Kerala and Drugmulla in Kupwara district of Kashmir.

Recently, Sachin sanctioned funds of over Rs. 40 lakhs from his MPLAD for the construction of a school building in Drugmulla area of Kupwara district in Kashmir which is the only school in the locality.

This funding will enable students to get an education. It will also help the kids stay away from turmoil.
