Former President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have inked a multiyear deal with Netflix to produce original TV shows and movies, the streaming service has announced.
" US President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have entered into a multi-year agreement to produce films and series for Netflix, potentially including scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features," Netflix US tweeted.
Sometimes the former president and first lady will be on camera as hosts or moderators, in other cases they will stay behind the scenes as producers, CNN reported, citing the anonymous sources, as saying.
However, the streaming service giant did not elaborate on the terms of the agreement.
We "have always believed in the power of storytelling to inspire us, to make us think differently about the world around us, and to help us open our minds and hearts to others. Netflix's unparalleled service is a natural fit for the kinds of stories we want to share, and we look forward to starting this exciting new partnership," several media reports quoted Michelle Obama, as saying, in a statement.
This is not the first deal the Obamas have sealed ever since they left the White House in early 2017.
According to several media reports that February, Penguin Random House had announced that the company would publish books by both Barack and Michelle Obama.
