West Indies cricket legends Andy Roberts, Curtly Ambrose and Richie Richardson have reportedly been selected for knighthood and will be presented the honours during the lunch break of the first ODI between England and West Indies in Antigua.
The knighthood of the trio will see the number of former knighted West Indies cricketers rise to 11, the most number of former cricketers outside of England to have been awarded knighthood.
According to Sport24, the other eight West Indians to be knighted are Learie Constantine, Wesley Hall, Conrad Hunte, Vivian Richards, Garfield Sobers, Clyde Walcott, Everton Weekes and Frank Worrell.
The report mentioned that Roberts, who represented the West Indies from 1974 to 1983, took 202 Test wickets at an average of 25.61 in 47 Tests, with 87 wickets at an average of 20.35 in ODIs while Ambrose claimed 405 Test wickets during his career between 1988 and 2000 at an average of 20.99 from his 98 Tests alongside 225 scalps in ODIs.
Richardson captained the West Indies in 24 of his 86 Tests, scoring 5, 949 runs, which included 16 centuries, the report added.
